Crane Aerospace & Electronics associates and Elyria city officials gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Crane A&E's new state-of-the-art Repair & Overhaul Facility

Ten months after breaking ground, Crane Aerospace & Electronics associates and City of Elyria, Ohio, officials gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, April 8, to officially open Crane A&E’s new 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art Repair and Overhaul facility.

The R&O facility expands Elyria’s overall industrial footprint. The site is home to Crane A&E’s Fluid Management business, which provides world-class design and manufacturing of positive displacement pumps, centrifugal pumps and true mass flowmeters for aerospace and defense markets. The expansion will allow Crane A&E to best serve its customers and provide world-class repair and overhaul services for Crane A&E’s many pump products flying today.

“We are committed to providing our customers best-in-class services, and our new Repair & Overhaul facility signifies our dedication,” said John J. Higgs, Crane A&E President. “Our new R&O facility expands our capabilities and helps ensure we provide our valued customers the timely and the high-quality repair and overhaul services expected from us.”

Crane A&E’s repair and overhaul services include pump evaluation and inspection, repair, complete overhaul and ATP in A&E’s Production Test Department. Using both internally fabricated and purchased components, Crane A&E keeps its products operating at peak performance in the field for decades. A&E’s R&O technicians have combined experience servicing more than 200 pumps.

This investment also signifies another milestone in a strong, long-standing relationship with the city of Elyria. Since 1904, Crane A&E heritage brand, Lear Romec, has been a fixture in Elyria. City Mayor Frank Whitfield attended the grand opening and expressed his satisfaction with the site expansion.

“We know there’s only one reason why this expansion can happen today,” Whitfield said. “And that’s because of you all – the employees that work here and the work that you put in over the years. It’s inspiring because there were so many reasons why not to do it (the expansion). With what’s going on all over the world it’s so easy to say, ‘Let’s take a step back. Just the boldness of the leadership, the confidence, the work ethic of the folks here. It’s inspiring and it shows that it can be done. We are excited that its being done in Elyria."
