Proximity Sensing Components

Crane provides both proven, off-the-shelf sensors or full custom proximity sensing solutions. Regardless of the sensor type, we provide complete application and installation support services to ensure that our products will provide a reliable, repeatable position indication function.  

Crane passive proximity sensors offer the highest reliability and are best suited for the most extreme environments of temperature, vibration, shock and EMI. These sensors, which have only two wires, require an external excitation signal which Crane provides and which supports a variety of aircraft system architectures while providing full built-in test (BIT) capability.

Crane active proximity sensors contain all of the electronics necessary for operation within the sensor itself. These are high-reliability, three-wire sensors which are ideally suited for applications that a small number of sensing channels.

Both proximity sensor types are available in full, all-metal construction and with either connectors or flying leads (pigtails). Full all-metal construction, hermetically sealed and operation from -55C to +125C is typical.
