Crane Aerospace & Electronics’ Elyria site hosted a groundbreaking celebration to kickoff construction of its new $4 million site expansion on Monday, June. 7, in Elyria, Ohio. Crane A&E site leadership was joined by Elyria Mayor Frank Whitfield, members of city council and project partners Infinity Construction and Onyx Creative.

Elyria is home to A&E’s Fluid Management business. Crane A&E is the world leader in the design and manufacturing of positive displacement pumps, centrifugal pumps and true mass flowmeters used in aerospace and defense markets.

The site expansion is a result of Crane A&E’s continued commitment to providing customers innovative product solutions and top-notch after sale support. Crane A&E’s repair & overhaul business is expected to grow significantly over the next several years, and the investment will provide A&E a state-of-the-art R&O facility that will serve as a showpiece to A&E’s global customer base.

"Crane A&E for years has enjoyed a strong relationship with the City of Elyria, and we're pleased to build on that legacy with our new Repair & Overhaul site expansion."

The expansion will also support the Elyria community by helping bolster the local economy with new work opportunity.

“The adversity we’ve faced from the global COVID-19 pandemic has impacted us all,” said John J. Higgs, Crane A&E VP & GM, Fluid. “It’s disrupted our lives and has affected our local economy – Crane Aerospace & Electronics included. As our city begins to fully open back up, we’re proud to stand alongside other Elyria businesses to help deliver jobs and opportunity to our valued community members. Crane A&E for years has enjoyed a strong relationship with the City of Elyria, and we’re pleased to build on to that legacy with our new Repair & Overhaul site expansion.”

Mayor Frank Whitfield thanked Crane A&E for its commitment to the city of Elyria. He also recognized several longtime Crane A&E employees. The Mayor said their 20-plus years of service spoke volumes about the type of company Crane is.

“It cannot be underscored how you all are important as the workforce,” said Mayor Whitfield, speaking the Crane A&E’s Elyria employees. “The city appreciates it. We are beneficiaries because of the hard work you all do, so this is a day to celebrate you all just as much as we celebrate the building of this building.”
