Crane Aerospace & Electronics Selected to Provide new Transformer Rectifiers for C-130

LYNNWOOD, Wash. – January 14, 2004 – Crane Aerospace & Electronics has been selected by Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, Long Beach, California, to provide ELDEC Regulated Transformer Rectifier Units (RTRUs) for the C-130 Avionics Modernization Program (AMP).

Greg Ward, president of the Aerospace Group of Crane Aerospace & Electronics, noted the significance of the contract, stating, “This is one of the largest military upgrade programs currently in work. We’re very pleased to have been selected for our advanced technology power conversion capability, and are proud to be a part of this key military upgrade effort.”

Under the C-130 AMP program, Boeing is developing a modern, common-cockpit avionics system for the approximately 514 C-130 transport aircraft in U.S. Air Force service – 11 aircraft during the Engineering Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the program and approximately 503 aircraft for the production phase. Crane Aerospace & Electronics is currently contracted to support the EMD Phase of the AMP program with six RTRUs arranged in two separate systems to convert AC generator power to tightly regulated DC power for use by the aircraft’s avionics systems. First deliveries of the RTRUs will begin in early 2005.
