physical contact with the actuation structure. In most cases the
installation for proximity switches is simpler than mechanical
switches.
Proximity switches offer far better life cycle
value than mechanical switches. Proximity switches have no moving
components and do not have a finite switching life. Proximity

It is not uncommon to have actual MTBF
performance that exceeds 1,000,000 hours. This is at least an order
of magnitude better than mechanical switches.
Proximity switches are self-contained devices
that combine the sensing element with the signal conditioning
electronics. Proximity sensors only include the sensing element and
