     Control Cables

Mechanical control cables actuate seat movements anywhere in the seat or seat arms. For over 50 years, Crane’s release cables have been the industry standard for reclining and other passenger seat features.

Our cables are extremely flexible and kink-resistant. Their very low friction and actuation forces make them perfect for difficult or complex mounting situations.

Additionally, Crane’s control cables use a compact design that minimizes the need for cable readjustment during normal use.

Certified compliant with FAA flammability standards, our control cables are trusted in virtually all aircraft seats in service today.

Features:

  • Low friction, high strength
  • Long service life
  • High cable conduit flexibility for easy routing
  • Minimal output travel loss
  • Special cable construction minimizes ‘lengthening’ in arm rest applications
  • Easy adjustment of cable lengths with addition of aluminum adjusters

Modules

We provide several options for push-button and lever actuators as well as output end configurations.

Input
    Push Button and Escutcheon
  • Maximum cable pull capability of 0.25 inches
  • Can change thickness and depth of input end to accommodate thickness of mounting panel
  • Input end can be installed to mounting panel by either "push-to release" spring clip or "snap-on"
  • Spring clip allows fast removal of push button and escutcheon from armrest without special tools
  • Typically used with Crane’s P.L. Porter Hydrolok
        Thru-shaft actuators
  • Maximum cable pull capabilities of 0.375 inches
  • Available with 2 or 3 mounting holes
  • Typically used with Crane’s P.L. Porter Mechlok
        Extension shaft actuators
  • Maximum cable pull capabilities of 0.375 inches
  • Available with 2 or 3 mounting holes
  • Typically used with Crane’s P.L. Porter Mechlok
Output
Three output types are available. All provide a cable positioning feature to assure non-slip, non-shear clamping. The self-locking find adjustment is fully visible and easily accessible. Aluminum or zinc die-cast options are available.

  • MC15 (A): Uses a set screw to attach to V groove or Hydrolok for installation; available in zinc die cast
  • MC21 (B): Easily adjustable; push on spring clip for easy installation with Hydrolok; available in aluminum die cast
  • MC74 (C): One piece plastic output structure for low cost; uses a "snap-on" installation of input end to mounting panel
